What this website collects
This site has no advertising, no analytics trackers and no third-party marketing scripts. It sets one cookie, a standard PHP session cookie, and only when you open the contact page. It exists solely to protect the form against automated abuse and it expires when you close your browser.
Your web host keeps ordinary server logs, which record IP addresses and pages requested. Those are used for security and troubleshooting.
Two pages load content from outside: the map on the Visit Us page comes from OpenStreetMap, and the site’s typefaces come from Google Fonts. Both will see your IP address as a normal consequence of serving those files.
What we do with what you send us
When you use the contact form, the information you enter is emailed to the cemetery board. We use it to answer you and, where relevant, to update the cemetery register. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone else.
The cemetery register
Cemetery records are different from most personal records, and it is worth being explicit about why.
We publish the names, dates and plot locations of people who are buried here. That is the essential public function of a burial ground: it is how a family three generations from now finds its people. Information about the dead is not personal information in the way information about the living is.
We do not publish the names or contact details of living interment rights holders, next of kin, or the people who write to us. If you ask for a record search, we reply to you and that is the end of it.
If you believe something we have published about a burial is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the register and correct it.
How long we keep things
Correspondence is kept as long as it is useful and then deleted. Burial and interment rights records are kept permanently — Ontario law requires it, and the whole value of a register is that it does not get thrown away.
Asking us about your information
You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete correspondence. Write to info@hammondpc.ca. We cannot delete burial records, for the reasons above.
Accessibility
This site is built to be usable with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, and at large text sizes. Pages use proper headings and landmarks, images carry text alternatives, colour contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA, and nothing depends on a mouse or on colour alone. Every page works with JavaScript switched off; the burial index search is the one feature that needs it, and there is a route around it.
The grounds themselves are another matter. The cemetery is grass, it is uneven, and there are no paved paths. We are honest about that on the Visit Us page. If you would like to visit a particular grave and the ground is a difficulty, please contact us in advance — we will do what we practically can to help.
If any part of this website gets in your way, please tell us at info@hammondpc.ca and we will fix it. We would rather hear about it than not.
